Located just across the Chattahoochee River from Atlanta, Cobb County is a dynamic community of over 600,000 residents. Cobb County provides access to cultural activities, professional sports, recreation, and colleges and universities. The third largest county in Georgia in population, Cobb covers 340 square miles and has six cities: Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna.

The Cobb County School District is the second largest school system in Georgia and among the 30 largest in the United States. The student population of more than 100,000 grows by about 2,500 each year. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited all Cobb County schools. Fifteen Cobb schools have earned National Blue Ribbon School awards and 33 have been named Georgia Schools of Excellence.

Parental and community involvement is a hallmark in Cobb County, as demonstrated through 100% PTA participation in many schools, the implementation of School Councils, and the Partners In Education Program, a joint effort with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and the Cobb and Marietta school systems.
