Lilburn, on the close-in southwestern edge of Gwinnett County, is an extremely convenient location for Dekalb commuters (Emory and the CDC) and an easy commute all the way into downtown Atlanta. The railroad runs through the old town area and Lawrenceville Highway (AKA Highway 29) is the main corridor of traffic.
Lilburn today is still a quaint little village, called "Old Town Lilburn" on the railroad. It has its own city government and police department. The old stores are now antique and gift shops. In town are many lovely Victorian homes. Just outside the town itself are residential and commercial areas, and Lilburn schools are considered some of the best in metro Atlanta.
The neighborhoods are mostly well established, tree-filled and inviting. Folks are warm and friendly and many have lived here for most of their lives. Not known for wide growth or redevelopment, you can expect stability and moderation as the standards here.
